虽然你不能阻止别人的行为, there are steps you can take to reduce the opportunity of falling victim to a criminal incident. Our compiled safety precautions encourage intentional planning 和 informed behaviors that will help you avoid risk 和 minimize the repercussions of a criminal incident.

We also regularly offer crime prevention presentations during the year to University departments 和 individuals which can be scheduled as the need arises.

    • While on 校园, report suspicious activity to DCS immediately by calling 303.871.3000 (1‐3000).
When going to parties or on community walks, have a friend with you to assure you both are safe.
Escorts are available to students, staff 和 faculty 请拨打303-871-2334.
Request that a "tailgater" use his or her key or swipe card to gain entry.
Even the smallest bit of information could prevent a crime 和 help protect yourself or others.
Listening to music or using your phone can distract you from people or vehicles around you.
Do not allow the opportunity for a crime to occur—avoid placing yourself in environments in which it's easier for criminals to commit a personal crime.
    • 如果可能的话, let a friend or roommate know where 和 with whom you'll be 和 when you'll be back when you go out.
    • Consider carrying a whistle or a personal alarm to alert others if you need help.
    • Lock your car doors 和 roll up the windows completely—even if you're only parking for a moment.
    • When driving, be aware of pedestrians 和 bicyclists 和 yield to them when required by law
    • Update your contact information with the 新MG线上电子游戏's emergency notifications system (杜警报) on the 校园安全处网页 接收有关校园重大安全问题的信息.

DU asks those who bring a bicycle to 校园 to register their bike with Parking 和 Mobility Services. The registration is free 和 is used to help alert bicycle owners to potential problems with their bicycles or to return a lost/stolen bike to its rightful owner. 自行车注册 is managed through the University’s Parking 和 Mobility Services at the following link:

    • Secure your bicycle using only U-Lock devices 和 ensure that the U-Lock is through the bicycle’s frame. Students, staff 和 faculty often wonder why we require the use of U-Locks. The reason is simple: cable locks are easily cut with basic tools 和 allow bikes to be stolen in a matter of a few short moments.
    • 请花一分钟复习一下 video produced by the Denver Police Department regarding keeping your bicycle safe. The video contains a demonstration of how easily cable locks are defeated.

Ride your bike/skateboard on the street or on 校园 brick pathways at a safe speed.
    • 救助站 are fixed phones placed throughout the DU 校园 that provide a direct link to the DCS Communication Center. 他们被用来提供援助 anyone who is in distress or needs emergency assistance or general 校园 assistance.
    • All efforts are made to regularly check 和 maintain the emergency phones 和 assistance stations so that they are in good working order.
    • Shred trash (checks, junk mail 和 personal documents) with a cross-cut or confetti shredder.
    • Minimize financial 和 personal information carried on your person or in public, 尤其是你的社会安全号码.
    • Do not give out personal or account information unless you know who you are speaking to 和 you made the contact.
    • Research 和 become aware of the numerous types of fraud 和 scams such as shipping scams, 支票兑现诈骗, 尼日利亚诈骗, 洛托诈骗, 信心游戏和网络诈骗.
